Background and Objective: Police assets and equipment, due to their direct role in security and law enforcement functions, are constantly exposed to threats and violations. Attacks on these assets not only cause financial loss but also disrupt public security. This study was conducted with the objective of examining the legislative experiences of leading legal systems regarding the protection of police assets and providing suggestions for reforming and strengthening this area in the Iranian legal system.

Methods: This study is conducted through a descriptive-analytical method with a comparative approach, using library-based sources .

Findings: The absence of specific and comprehensive regulations regarding criminal protection of the police in the face of property crimes has resulted in the criminal response to acts such as theft, destruction, arson of police property, or misuse of police credit cards being governed by general rules, which lack sufficient effectiveness. In contrast, advanced legal systems such as the United States, the United Kingdom, and France, recognizing the sensitive role of the police in maintaining public order, have introduced special criminalization measures and aggravated penalties to provide robust protection for police property and equipment.

Conclusion: Comparative analysis reveals that in the selected countries, not only are specific and stricter sanctions prescribed for theft or destruction of police property, but independent criminalization also exists for offenses such as arson of police vehicles or financial misuse of organizational resources. Accordingly, it is necessary to draw on these experiences and introduce tailored criminal protections for police property in Iran to enhance officers’ occupational security and strengthen public trust. Specifically, the independent criminalization of theft, destruction, and arson of police premises and equipment, as well as financial misuse of organizational tools such as police credit cards, could fill the existing gap and guide the legal system toward more effective protection.
